Accusump Oil AccumulatorsLogo_Canton.gif

These units are recommended for all size engines when oil pressure fluctuation problems are experienced or when pre-oiling is wanted.

The Accusump provides that extra margin of protection that you need against engine damage caused by loss of oil pressure.   Racing and high performance street engines by nature are put under a lot of stress by the high G-load situations that they are placed in.  As oil in your pan sloshes about, your oil pump pickup can become uncovered, which causes a loss of oil pressure and sets the stage for severe engine damage.   The Accusump provides oil during these times reducing the potential for damage. Picture shows optional electric valve unit. Mount kits available.

The Accusump is built from a heavy wall, roller burnished aluminum tubing which is Teflon coated inside.
Features include a double o-ring piston, screw in billet aluminum end caps, saftey end clamps to prevent distortion, air pressure gauge, air pre-charge valve and a safety blow-off valve.

How The Accusump Works

On initial start-up when the valve on the oil side is opened the pressurized oil is released into the engine and therefore pre-lubricating the engine prior to start-up.
The Accusump holds whatever oil pressure the engine has at the time that it is shut off.
After the engine is started and the oil pump has taken over, oil is pumped back into the Accusump.
This moves the piston back and pressurizes the Accusump until it equalizes with engine's oil pressure.
While driving, if the engine's oil pressure is interrupted for any reason, the Accusump releases its oil reserve again, keeping the engine lubricated until the engine's oil pressure comes back to normal.
This release of oil could last from 15 to 60 seconds, depending on the size and speed of the engine.
In racing or hard driving conditions, the Accusump will automatically fill and discharge when needed as you corner, accelerate and brake.

The Accusump Electric valve (#24-270) provides convenient hands free operation of the Accusump. By wiring the valve into the ignition switch the Accusump will automatically turn on with your ignition and provide pre-oiling. This is especially useful when the Accusump body is mounted in a hard to reach location.

What E.P.C valve do you need?

The Accusump E.P.C Valve is offered at three different pressure settings. Each valve is designed to allow the Accusump to recharge when the engine's pressure is above the pressure setting and to discharge when it is below.

When choosing the pressure setting that is right for your application it is important to consider you engine's oil pressure during normal conditions. You will want to choose an E.P.C valve setting that is below that normal engine pressure. This way when your engine is running normally the valve will allow your Accusump to accumulate oil pressure. Then when you engine drops below its normal pressure and the valve's pressure setting it will discharge its accumulated oil in the Accusump. If unsure of your engine's pressure it is best to choose the E.P.C valve with the lowest rating.
